We have officially started counting down to one of the most loved events in Harrison the  4th Annual Harrison Beerfest and Oktoberfest.  The Harrison Beer Festival was created to showase BC Craft Breweries and celebrate craft beer month in BC.

The Harrison Hot Springs and Agassiz region has a rich history in the beer industry. For 60  years hops, a basic ingredient in beer, where the main industry in the Agassiz Area of British Columbia. At the height of the business, 300 acres were planted with hops. The first hop yards, planted in 1892, belonged to the B.C. Hop Company. Hops were harvested from August to early October every year and during that time Agassiz prospered. With the arrival of a thousand pickers, the town's normal population swelled to 15 hundred and business flourished until the flood of 48.

The Harrison Beer Fest offers three great events over 2 days.  The Festival kicks off on Friday night with a  traditional cask night.  Set in a British Pub atmosphere 8 local brewers bring their best unique brew in a  cask that must be finished in one night.  A cask is unfiltered, unpasteurized beer served wtih out CO2.  It a unique beer and this friendly competition is a great opportunity to try out some of this special beverage. Its a great night with British style decor and British themed buffet.

The Saturday afternoon, Beer Festival brings 25 of the finest micro breweries in BC (and two from Ontario) to the shores of Harrison Lake for a unique opportunity of sampling or tasting a wide range of craft-brewed beers in a variety of different styles by various brewers.
